February 3rd 2010 "Doug the Mailman" Mary Croteau I know I'm not the only one who misses Doug. He was the best mailman ever, though I am a fan of his old substitute - the youngish kid with the brown hair. But Doug knew us. I never worried about stuff being sidetracked while Doug was delivering the mail. When my daughter spaced out and forwarded ALL of our households mail to Virginia when she went away for college, Doug came to the rescue. (Actually, so didn't the brown haired substitute) I guess we'll have to just train the new guy. It must be no easy task delivering the mail down here with such a transient population. Who is here? Who has left? Who'll be back? I though I heard the mail truck the other night at 6:30, and according to the Bragg Ave crew over coffee this morning, I heard correctly. Poor guy. I think I'll leave him a message of encouragement in the mailbox. I hope Doug is happy wherever he's been reassigned to, but I hope he knows that he will be sorely missed here at the beach. |
